KENYA - Acacias 'AA'
KENYA - Acacias 'AA'
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1700m
Roast: Medium
Strength: 3/5
Characteristics: This beautiful coffee boasts notes of chocolate, cherry and cranberry with a creamy body and red-wine acidity. A clean cup with a good mouthfeel and lingering aftertaste.
Further Information: The cherries are first hand sorted, and then depulped on a disc pulper. They are then 'dry' fermented overnight before being washed and placed in water to further ferment, after which they are washed once again and placed in soaking tanks. Finally, they are then moved to the raised beds on the gentle slopes outside. Cherries are often covered at night and midday to help maintain even temperatures.
Famed for its quality and fertility of the soil, the 'Tegu Factory' wet mill is situated in the Nyeri district which sits at the foothills between Mount Kenya to the north east, and the Aberdare range to the west. It is run by the 'Tekangu Farmers Cooperative Society' which was founded in 1969 and today claims 1200 members and spans across 5 villages.
